ESW Diesel Emission Controls Work at World Trade Center Construction Site

ESW technology was selected for the retrofit project by Clean Air Communities, an initiative of the Northeast States Center for a Clean Air Future (NESCCAF) designed to reduce air pollution and increase energy efficiency in New York City neighborhoods (June 2004). The Clean Air Communities Diesel Emissions Reduction Project at the World Trade Center site is the first public-private endeavor of its kind in the city.

The proprietary high-performance Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) Clean CatŪ is being used to help reduce harmful emissions from heavy-duty equipment at the World Trade Center construction site in New York City. "As the construction to rebuild the complexes at the World Trade Center continues over the course of the next few years, we believe ESW will play an important role in helping to reduce pollution during the new construction phase." said David Johnson, ESW interim President and CEO.

ESW's Clean CatŪ metallic High Performance DOC substrate has been installed by Fleetguard Nelson into their factory OEM muffler system on a 6.8 liter John Deere diesel- powered generator. The finished unit maintained the original muffler shape and size, permitting a direct, bolt-on application.

Clean Cat(TM) metallic High Performance DOC substrates were also incorporated in custom-designed muffler/catalyst housings manufactured by Universal Silencer for installation upon two Falcon Steel tower cranes at the site. The chief considerations for these applications were pollution reduction potential, ease of integration, meeting specific weight limitations and dimensional requirements.
